Petrotape (Pty) Ltd began in July of 1982 as a manufacturer of petrolatum pipe wrapping tapes and associated products such as mastics and primers. The company had it's small factory situated in Booysens Reserve, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Within two years (1984) Petrotape expanded into the adhesive coating business and began to manufacture general purpose insulation tape. Shortly thereafter the product range increased to include low tack protection tapes and joining tapes.
By the time 1988 arrived the company was also converting and distributing PVC tapes and a few speciality products. It was now necessary to move in to larger premises and so the current factory on the same block was custom built. By 1990 there were four "coating-type" machines as well as slitters, rewinders and some speciality custom-made machinery.
The mid 1990's saw a change in tactics with the company now concentrating on custom-made adhesive coated products. The pipe wrappings and tapes however continue to dominate our production as the company continues to expand both it's product range and customer base.
With a dedicated staff of just under twenty at the Johannesburg branch, Petrotape is able to give customers the personal attention and service that tends to become lost in the larger organisations. We value all tape and related enquiries as this enables us to increase our knowledge base and help our customers obtain those "hard to find" products.
We trust that your experience dealing with us is a pleasurable one and should this not be the case, please let us know as we are always looking for ways to improve.
